Seasons greetings

Season's Greetings from CAE!

All our staff, students and actors (!) wish you a wonderful festive season and good health, happiness and success in 2012.

CAE hosts TEN Conference

TEN - The English Network

CAE hosted the second annual TEN Administration Conference on 25th/26th November 2011. Over 40 delegates, representing the admin, accommodation, welfare, accounts and social activities departments of all the TEN schools, gathered together for a weekend of talks, seminars and group discussions on work-related issues. There was, of course, time for the delegates to get to know each other socially, starting off with dinner at the conference hotel on the Friday evening. One delegate commented, 'The TEN conferences are so helpful. Each one leaves me feeling more confident in my role and excited to make my school even better.'

British Council Inspection Report

We are delighted to report an overall increase in the number of points of excellence awarded to CAE by the British Council in our 2011 inspection.

Our publishable statement states, 'Points of excellence were noted in aspects of student administration, publicity, premises, self-access resources and the leisure programme.'

Our IALC report is eagerly awaited and we hope that it will be similarly positive.

New Building for CAE

Many CAE students have fond memories of their lessons in the Meadow Classrooms. We were using this building right up until August 2011. Now look what we have done to it! We have already started building a new and larger classroom block. The new building will be finished at the end of March 2012. Further updates will follow.

Summer 2011

CAE Summer 2011

A big thank you to all CAE students and staff for making this a very special summer. This summer's courses were more international than ever, with over 50 nationalities represented on our wide range of courses. It was very nice to welcome Lucia back to CAE after 20 years. Having passed FCE at CAE in 1991, Lucia came back for an intensive course at the CAE Professional Course this summer. She also brought her two lovely daughters with her and they studied on our Teenage Residential Course.

CAE Summer Carnival

The CAE summer got off to a fantastic start with an International Carnival. About 250 guests, including students, staff, homestay hosts and local families, spent a very nice sunny evening in the CAE garden, enjoying a wide selection of international stalls, activities, performances and, of course, some delicious food from around the world!

Old Buckenham Hall

NEW course for 2012!

CAE's summer courses for young learners run from June to August every year. In addition to our three current programmes, we are delighted to announce that we will be opening a new summer residential course next year. From July 2012 onwards, boys and girls aged 12-15 will be able to enjoy courses at the attractive and well-equipped Old Buckenham Hall school, which is set in beautiful English countryside and provides another safe location for our international students. Full details of this course will appear in our new brochure and on our website later this summer.

Spring Inspections

Quality assurance is very important for CAE and this spring has been a great opportunity for us to show our visiting inspectors how keen we are to keep improving the services we offer at our school.

The first inspection was by the British Council and the second one was carried out by IALC (International Association of Language Centres). We look forward to getting our reports later in the year.

All Eyes on the
Royal Wedding

The royal wedding was followed with great interest at CAE, where staff and students watched the happy couple on TV, interactive whiteboard and computer. There were almost as many flags at CAE as there were in London. A traditional British meal – 'Bangers and Mash' – was served for lunch after the ceremony.

Ready for the sunshine!

CAE staff and students are looking forward to a sunny spring term. The beautiful school garden now has two landscaped seating areas for people to relax in, have lunch together or just enjoy some fresh air and the lovely plants and flowers around them.

Intensive FCE Course in February

We welcomed a wonderful and hard-working group of students from Italy this February. They will be taking their exams soon and we wish them every success. They all deserve to get good results.

CAE staff and students had a fantastic day and lots of fun at the annual WOW! event. WOW stands for World Orphan Week and we raised over £400 for SOS Children's Villages with games, activities, afternoon tea and an auction. This is also the day when we wear something outrageous at CAE!

All our staff wish you a merry festive season and a happy, healthy and successful 2011!

Busy November

November 2010 was a busy month for CAE. We attended ICEF Berlin, took part in the QE Roadshow and attended the English UK Fait in Vietnam. Four of us also attended the first TEN Admin. Conference, which was hosted by BEET in Bournemouth.

Shiona's Farewell

After 15 years working at CAE, Shiona Grant said her farewell to students and staff. Shiona will now have the time to concentrate on her other great love, which is music. CAE students and staff sang and played music for Shiona on her final day to thank her for being such a fantastic teacher, exams officer and assistant director of studies.

Business English UK Trip to CAE

We were delighted to welcome Business English experts from all over the world to CAE in September. Not only was it a chance for them to find out more about the CAE Professional English Centre and see the centre in action, it was also an opportunity to enjoy some delicious cake!
